9 Mistakes Making Scrambled Eggs

Eggs are delicious, heathy and generally pretty easy to make.  However, it is possible to mess up even the simplest egg dish, the scrambled egg.  Backyard chicken keepers are probably pretty good at making scrambled eggs but that doesn't necessarily mean that we're getting it all right. Here are nine common errors made by folks making scrambled eggs as presented in the Huffington Post.

Egg McMuffin Is 40 Years Old

The Egg McMuffin turned 40 years old this year and accounts for over 25% of McDonalds sales. The original Egg McMuffin solved a key problem in McDonald's business strategy -- How a burger chain could get a share of the breakfast market when the chain was so linked to hamburgers.  Learn more about the Egg McMuffin and what McDonalds is cooking up now for breakfast in The Egg McMuffin Turns 40.

Salmonella & Chickens

The CDC recently issued guidelines to backyard flock owners on how to avoid salmonella. However, according to the folks at FreeFromHarm.Org, a vegan advocacy web site, the real blame lies not with backyard chicken owners but with the hatcheries. Chicken are not likely to pick up salmonella from your garden but are more likely to contract it in a commercial setting. Peel Boiled Eggs In 10 Seconds

It's always interesting to see the ways people come up with to make peeling boiled eggs easier.  I've seen quite a few interesting ways including cutting through the eggs (shell and all) with a knife and scooping out the egg with a spoon.  This method does work, but doesn't lead to a particularly pretty presentation. It's really best when making egg salad because the egg is going to be chopped up anyway.

So here's another method I stumbled upon today....

Shake 'Em in Tupperware

This method comes courtesy of a Japanese TV show. "Ultraman" will demonstrate how to peel 5 eggs in under 10 seconds. You place the eggs into tupperware with a little water and shake to crack the shells. I'm going to give this method a try and see if it works for me.
